Up for sale is a Dingwall JT-3 John Taylor Signature Multi-Scale 5-String Bass in Primrose Cream (Vintage White Gloss), complete with its original Dingwall gig bag.

Developed in collaboration with John Taylor of Duran Duran, the JT-3 is an exceptionally versatile signature bass combining Dingwall’s renowned multi-scale design with three FD3n neodymium pickups and a custom Rupert Neve Designs 2-band preamp.

The Primrose Cream / Vintage White Gloss finish gives the bass a beautifully understated vintage appearance, while the black hardware, maple fingerboard, distinctive Rio Eye inlay, and modern multi-scale construction create a great blend of classic styling and contemporary performance.

This example is exceptionally clean and is about as close to mint as you’re likely to find outside of a new instrument.

John Taylor Signature Design

The JT-3 was developed with John Taylor, whose bass playing has been an essential part of Duran Duran’s sound for decades.

Rather than simply creating a cosmetic signature model, Dingwall designed the JT-3 as a serious professional instrument with an unusually broad tonal range.

Its combination of three FD3n pickups, Quad-Tone switching, active/passive operation, and Rupert Neve Designs preamp gives the player access to an enormous variety of sounds while retaining the clarity and definition Dingwall basses are famous for.

The result is a bass capable of covering everything from warm vintage-inspired tones to aggressive modern sounds with exceptional low-end definition.

Dingwall Multi-Scale Design

One of the defining features of the JT-3 is Dingwall’s multi-scale fingerboard.

The scale lengths gradually transition from 37" on the low B to 34" on the G string.

This gives the lower strings additional length and tension while retaining a familiar feel on the higher strings.

The biggest beneficiary is the low B. The extended 37" scale provides exceptional definition and authority, helping individual notes remain tight and articulate rather than becoming loose or muddy.
