For Sale: 2025 Fender Japan MIJ FSR Traditional II ’60s Telecaster Custom – Candy Apple Red | HSC

Up for sale is a 2025 Fender Factory Special Run (FSR) Made in Japan Traditional II ’60s Telecaster Custom in Candy Apple Red, complete with a non-original hard-shell case.

Built for the Japanese domestic market, this FSR Traditional II ’60s Telecaster Custom combines classic mid-’60s Telecaster styling with the excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail Fender Japan is known for. Featuring a double-bound basswood body, rosewood fingerboard, vintage-style Telecaster single-coil pickups, and comfortable 9.5" radius, it delivers classic Telecaster character while incorporating player-friendly modern refinements.

The Candy Apple Red finish is absolutely stunning, offering beautiful depth and richness that pairs perfectly with the cream double binding and mint green pickguard. It’s a timeless Fender custom color that gives this Telecaster an unmistakably upscale appearance.

Unlike many Fender Japan Telecasters that are commonly found with only a gig bag, this guitar includes a non-original hard-shell case. This is a significant upgrade for storage and travel and, importantly, provides considerably better protection during shipping than a gig bag.

Factory Special Run

One of the highlights of this Telecaster is its Factory Special Run configuration.

Produced for the Japanese market, this model combines the traditional appearance of a mid-’60s Telecaster Custom with specifications that make it extremely comfortable for modern players.

The double-bound body is the defining visual feature. Paired with the rich Candy Apple Red finish, rosewood fingerboard, and mint green pickguard, it captures the elegant appearance associated with some of Fender’s most desirable vintage Telecaster Customs.

It’s a beautiful combination that stands apart from a standard production Telecaster.

Electronics & Features

The vintage-style Fender Telecaster single-coil pickups provide the unmistakable Tele voice—crisp highs, punchy mids, tight lows, and excellent note definition.

The bridge pickup provides the bright attack and characteristic Telecaster twang that has defined countless recordings, while the neck pickup offers a warmer, rounder voice that works beautifully for clean playing, blues, rock, and rhythm work.

The traditional 3-way blade switch with master volume and master tone controls keeps the electronics simple and intuitive.

The vintage-style three-saddle bridge with threaded steel saddles contributes to the classic Telecaster attack, resonance, and response.

Tone & Feel

This Telecaster feels every bit as good as it looks.

The U-shaped maple neck has a substantial vintage-inspired feel without becoming excessively large. Our measurements come in at .85" at the 1st fret and .93" at the 12th fret, gradually filling out as you move toward the upper register.

The 9.5" fingerboard radius provides a comfortable balance between vintage Fender feel and modern playability, making string bending easier while retaining the familiar character of a traditional Telecaster.

At 7 lbs 2 oz, the guitar is nicely balanced and comfortable for long rehearsals, recording sessions, or live performances.

Tonally, it delivers everything you’d expect from a great Telecaster—bright and articulate cleans, warm neck-pickup tones, punchy middle-position sounds, and the unmistakable bite of the bridge pickup.

Most importantly, the guitar has been professionally set up and plays great with no buzzing or dead spots.

Candy Apple Red & Double-Bound Body

The combination of Candy Apple Red and a double-bound body is one of the biggest visual attractions of this guitar.

Candy Apple Red has long been one of Fender’s most recognizable custom colors, and its deep metallic appearance looks especially impressive against the contrasting body binding.

Combined with the rosewood fingerboard and mint green pickguard, the result is a Telecaster with a distinctly premium, vintage-inspired appearance.

It’s a guitar that looks fantastic in person and really comes alive under direct lighting.

Non-Original Hard-Shell Case

The guitar comes with a non-original hard-shell case.

Many Fender Japan instruments are commonly sold with gig bags, so the inclusion of a hard-shell case is a worthwhile upgrade.

Not only does it provide substantially better protection for storage and travel, but it also gives the guitar considerably more protection during shipping than a gig bag.

The guitar will be professionally packed inside the hard-shell case for safe transport to its next owner.

Transparency & Photos

As with all Guitar Chimp listings, detailed photos are provided of the exact instrument—no stock photos.

At the end of the photo set, you’ll find close-up images taken under direct lighting to clearly show the light scratches, small dings, and any other cosmetic imperfections.

We don’t just describe the condition—we show it in detail so there are no surprises.

Many of our customers tell us their guitars arrive in better condition than expected.
