Up for sale is a 2018 Gibson Lzzy Hale Signature Dark Explorer in stunning Ebony Black, complete with its original Gibson hard-shell case.

Designed in collaboration with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, the Dark Explorer takes the unmistakable Explorer silhouette and gives it a seriously upscale, aggressive look. The gloss Ebony nitrocellulose finish is paired with elaborate multi-ply body binding, gold hardware, a gold pickguard, mother-of-pearl block inlays, and a matching gold Lzzy Hale signature truss rod cover.

Underneath the striking appearance is a serious rock guitar. A solid mahogany body and Slim Taper mahogany neck are paired with a Richlite fingerboard and a set of Gibson '57 Classic humbuckers, giving the Dark Explorer a powerful combination of classic Gibson warmth, clarity, sustain, and bite.

These Lzzy Hale signature models don't come up for sale nearly as often as standard Explorers, making this a great opportunity to pick up a distinctive Gibson signature model in exceptionally clean condition.

The Gibson '57 Classic in the neck position delivers the warm, smooth character associated with a great vintage-style Gibson humbucker. It has plenty of richness for leads and clean tones while retaining enough definition to keep individual notes articulate.

The '57 Classic Plus in the bridge provides additional output and bite while maintaining the vintage-inspired character of the '57 Classic design. It delivers thick rhythm tones, strong midrange presence, and excellent sustain without sacrificing clarity.

Together, the two pickups give the guitar plenty of versatility, covering everything from warm cleans and bluesy leads to classic rock, hard rock, and high-gain tones.

The control layout is straightforward and performance focused, with two individual volume controls, a master tone, and a three-way pickup selector.

Another great feature is the set of Mini Grover locking tuners, which provide excellent tuning stability while making string changes quick and easy.

Tone & Feel

This Dark Explorer delivers the big, authoritative sound you'd expect from a mahogany Gibson.

The solid mahogany body and neck provide a strong fundamental with thick mids, excellent sustain, and plenty of low-end authority. The '57 Classic pickup combination keeps the guitar articulate and dynamic while providing more than enough power when pushed through an overdriven amplifier.

The Slim Taper neck is particularly comfortable on this example. Measuring just .82" at the 1st fret and .85" at the 12th, it maintains a consistently slim feel as you move up the neck, making it fast and effortless to play.

At 9 lbs 0 oz, the guitar has a solid, substantial feel without being excessively heavy for a full-size Explorer.
