Built in Japan and inspired by the modified Mustangs Kurt Cobain used during the In Utero era, this distinctive signature model combines classic short-scale Mustang styling with a direct-mounted Seymour Duncan JB humbucker, Fender Mustang neck single-coil, Adjusto-Matic bridge, and Dynamic Vibrato.

The Fiesta Red finish, tortoiseshell pickguard, and H/S pickup configuration make this one of Fender's most recognizable modern artist-signature Mustangs.

Kurt Cobain Mustang Design

One of the biggest draws of this model is its connection to the modified Fender Mustangs Kurt Cobain played during the In Utero era.

Rather than using a traditional Mustang pickup configuration, Fender equipped the signature model with a direct-mounted Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge for considerably more output, punch, and aggression.

The Fender Mustang single-coil in the neck retains the clarity and character associated with the original offset design.

The familiar Mustang slider controls provide individual on/off and phase switching for each pickup, giving the guitar plenty of tonal flexibility while maintaining the distinctive look of Cobain's stage instruments.

Short-Scale Feel & Rock-Ready Tone

The 24" scale length gives this Mustang the easy, slinky feel that makes Fender short-scale offsets so enjoyable to play.

The C-shaped neck measures .82" at the 1st fret and .93" at the 12th, providing a comfortable profile that gradually fills out as you move up the neck.

The bridge JB delivers plenty of output, bite, and power for heavier sounds, while the neck single-coil provides warmer, clearer tones.
