For Sale: 2009 Gibson SG Raw Power – Satin Blue Platinum | All Maple | ’57 Classics | HSC

Up for sale is a 2009 Gibson SG Raw Power in the striking Satin Blue Platinum finish, complete with a non-original hard-shell case.

The Raw Power Series is a particularly distinctive chapter in Gibson’s history, taking the familiar SG platform in a very different direction with all-maple construction. Rather than the traditional mahogany body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard combination, this SG features a maple body, maple neck, and maple fingerboard, giving it a unique look and personality within the SG lineup.

A pair of Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers, Slim ’60s neck profile, and the unusual combination of dot and trapezoid fingerboard inlays complete this uncommon Gibson configuration.

All-Maple Raw Power Construction

The defining feature of the SG Raw Power is its unusual all-maple construction.

Using maple for the body, neck, and fingerboard gives this model a completely different specification from a traditional mahogany-bodied SG. The light-colored maple fingerboard is especially distinctive against the Satin Blue Platinum finish and makes the Raw Power immediately recognizable.

The combination of dot and trapezoid fingerboard inlays adds another unusual visual detail unique to this unconventional SG design.

Gibson ’57 Classic Humbuckers

A pair of Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers provides the electronics for this Raw Power.

Combined with the maple construction, they give the guitar a lively, articulate character with plenty of clarity and attack while retaining the familiar warmth and power of a Gibson humbucker.

Hard-Shell Case

This guitar includes a non-original hard-shell case, a welcome upgrade in protection compared with transporting or storing the instrument in a soft gig bag.

The rigid construction provides substantially better protection for the SG’s body, neck, and headstock during storage, transportation, and shipping, making it a valuable addition to the complete package.
