For Sale: 2007 Gibson SG Goddess – Violet Burst | Ebony Fingerboard | OHSC

Up for sale is a 2007 Gibson SG Goddess in the striking Violet Burst finish, complete with its original Gibson hard-shell case.

Produced as part of Gibson’s limited-edition Goddess series, this distinctive SG combines classic mahogany construction with a bound ebony fingerboard, exceptionally slim neck profile, simplified controls, wraparound bridge, and Gibson 490R/498T humbuckers.

Of the finishes offered in the Goddess series, Violet Burst is the rarest and most sought-after, transitioning from vivid purple through the center to a dramatically darker outer edge.

This example is in excellent condition and remarkably still has the protective plastic on the pickguard.

Condition

Excellent – 9/10

This guitar is in excellent condition, showing only light scratches and a few small dings from normal handling and use.

The protective plastic remains on the pickguard, which is an especially nice detail on a 2007 instrument.

The guitar weighs 7 lbs 4 oz and has a particularly slim, fast-playing neck measuring just .78" at the 1st fret.

Limited-Edition SG Goddess

The Goddess series takes the familiar SG platform in a distinctive direction, combining streamlined appointments with unique cosmetic details not normally found on a standard SG.

The Violet Burst finish is the centerpiece, but details such as the bound ebony fingerboard, Purple Pearl Gibson headstock logo, nickel hardware, and simplified electronics give the model an identity all its own.

The result is immediately recognizable as an SG while being distinctly different from Gibson’s more traditional Standard and Special models.

Violet Burst Finish

Violet Burst is the standout finish of the Goddess series and the most difficult color to find today.

The rich purple center transitions into dramatically darker edges, emphasizing the sculpted contours and unmistakable double-cutaway shape of the SG.

Combined with the dark ebony fingerboard and nickel hardware, it gives this guitar a particularly striking appearance without relying on elaborate ornamentation.

Gibson 490R & 498T Humbuckers

The Gibson 490R neck and 498T bridge humbuckers provide a versatile pairing well suited to the SG platform.

The 490R offers a warm, full neck voice, while the hotter 498T provides plenty of output and definition from the bridge position. A streamlined master volume and master tone layout keeps the controls simple and intuitive.

Ebony Fingerboard & Slim Neck

One of the most appealing features of the Goddess is its bound ebony fingerboard and unusually slender mahogany neck.

With a measured depth of only .78" at the 1st fret, this example has a particularly fast and streamlined feel. The ebony fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface and a crisp response while adding an upscale touch to the otherwise stripped-down design.

Original Hard-Shell Case

The guitar includes its original Gibson hard-shell case, providing an important complement to this limited-edition model and excellent protection for storage and transportation.
