The 4001V63
The 4001V63 occupies a special place in Rickenbacker's history.
Rather than simply recreating a standard later-era 4001, Rickenbacker designed the V63 around the stripped-down appearance and specifications associated with its early-'60s basses.
The result is instantly recognizable: dot fingerboard inlays, no body binding, vintage-style pickups, and classic Rickenbacker hardware give the V63 a noticeably different personality from a standard 4001 or 4003.
These details also make the model particularly appealing to players looking for the visual and tonal character associated with some of the most famous Rickenbacker basses of the 1960s and '70s.
Vintage-Style Pickups
A huge part of the V63's appeal is its pickup configuration.
The Toaster-style neck pickup delivers a warm yet articulate voice with the upper-midrange clarity Rickenbackers are famous for.
At the bridge, the Horseshoe-style pickup provides plenty of attack, definition, and bite. Combined with the neck pickup, it produces the unmistakable piano-like clarity and complex midrange that makes a great Rickenbacker bass immediately recognizable in a mix.
The traditional two-volume, two-tone control layout with a 3-way selector provides plenty of flexibility for blending the two pickups.
Tone & Feel
This 4001V63 has the unmistakable character players expect from a great Rickenbacker.
The maple construction gives the bass a lively, immediate response with excellent sustain and articulation. Notes have a strong fundamental attack, while chords and melodic passages remain remarkably clear.
The 33.25" scale length contributes to the unique Rickenbacker feel, sitting just slightly shorter than the more common 34" long scale.
This particular neck is also nicely streamlined, measuring .87" at the 1st fret and just .90" at the 12th fret, giving it a relatively consistent and comfortable feel as you move up the fingerboard.
At 10 lbs 0 oz, the bass has a substantial, solid feel and plenty of resonance.
Whether you're after articulate clean bass tones, aggressive pick attack, classic rock growl, or that unmistakable Rickenbacker clang, this bass delivers.
Most importantly, it plays and sounds fantastic.
Original Rickenbacker Hard-Shell Case
The bass comes complete with its original Rickenbacker hard-shell case.
The case remains in excellent working condition, with the latches and hinges functioning properly.
Having the original case is an important addition to an increasingly desirable discontinued Rickenbacker model and provides excellent protection for storage, transportation, and shipping.
