Up for sale is a 1989 Fender Custom Shop 35th Anniversary Stratocaster, numbered #097 of only 500 produced, complete with its certificate of authenticity and a newer Fender hard-shell case. This is a very early Custom Shop model, coming from Fender’s third-ever Custom Shop line — making it historically significant and highly collectible.

This limited-edition Strat is partially based on the Strat Plus but features several Custom Shop–only upgrades, including a stunning quilted maple top, birdseye maple neck, ebony fretboard, Lace Sensor pickups, and active electronics. These early CS instruments were built in extremely small numbers and are becoming increasingly hard to find in clean condition.

Condition

Excellent — 9/10

• Light scratches and small dings (all shown in the photos)

• Tiny crack in the plastic pickguard near one screw

• No cracks, repairs, or structural issues

• Neck is straight, truss rod functions perfectly

• Frets are in excellent condition

• Recently set up here at Guitar Chimp — plays cleanly with no buzzing or dead spots

The newer Fender hard-shell case has light wear but is fully functional.
