For Sale: 2002 Gretsch 6120W-57 Nashville Western 1957 Reissue Western Orange Stain w/ OHSC

Up for sale is a 2002 Gretsch 6120W-57 Nashville Western 1957 Reissue in the iconic Western Orange Stain finish, complete with its original hard-shell case.

Built at the renowned Terada factory in Japan, the 6120W-57 is one of Gretsch's most distinctive modern reissues, inspired by the legendary late-1950s Western models that would later evolve into the Eddie Cochran signature guitars. Produced in limited numbers, this model combines classic Gretsch craftsmanship with several unique appointments, including the unmistakable "G" brand on the laminated maple top, a clear pickguard, premium ebony fingerboard, and an unusual pickup pairing of a P-90 Dog Ear neck pickup and a DeArmond Dynasonic bridge pickup.

While it predates the official G6120EC Eddie Cochran model, many collectors consider the 6120W-57 to be one of the coolest and most desirable Western reissues ever produced. It shares much of the same visual DNA while maintaining its own unique specifications, including the ebony fingerboard and distinctive hardware configuration.

Electronics & Features

The 6120W-57 stands apart from virtually every other Gretsch hollow body thanks to its unique blend of classic Western styling and exceptionally versatile electronics.

Instead of the traditional Filter'Tron configuration, Gretsch paired a P-90 Dog Ear in the neck position with a DeArmond Dynasonic in the bridge. The result is a remarkably broad tonal palette. The neck pickup delivers warm, full-bodied cleans with excellent midrange richness, while the Dynasonic bridge pickup produces outstanding clarity, snap, and twang with incredible dynamic response. Together, they create a guitar equally suited for rockabilly, country, blues, jazz, classic rock, and roots music.

Visually, the guitar is unmistakable. The branded "G" on the top, simulated f-holes, clear pickguard, and rich Western Orange Stain finish capture the spirit of Gretsch's late-1950s Western models while giving the instrument a personality all its own.

Another standout feature is the ebony fingerboard, a premium appointment not found on later Eddie Cochran signature models. Combined with the comfortable maple neck, it offers a smooth playing surface with exceptional note definition and articulation.

Tone & Feel

This guitar has all of the lively acoustic resonance that has made Gretsch hollow bodies legendary.

The fully hollow laminated maple body produces a wonderfully open, airy response, while the ebony fingerboard adds clarity and attack to every note. The combination of the P-90 and Dynasonic pickups provides exceptional versatility, covering everything from warm vintage jazz tones to aggressive rockabilly bite and sparkling country twang.

The comfortable neck profile feels instantly familiar, while the 24.5-inch scale makes bends effortless and chords comfortable across the entire fingerboard.

At just 7 lbs 4 oz, the guitar is lightweight, perfectly balanced, and exceptionally resonant whether played acoustically or plugged in.
