For Sale: 1991 Fender Japan MIJ Pro Feel STR-120SD Floyd Rose Stratocaster Blueberry Sunburst w/ Hard-Shell Case
Up for sale is a very rare 1991 Fender Japan MIJ Pro Feel STR-120SD Floyd Rose Stratocaster in the stunning Blueberry Sunburst finish, complete with a non-original hard-shell case.
Produced during Fender Japan's celebrated Pro Feel Series, the STR-120SD represents the company's answer to the high-performance "super Strat" market of the early 1990s. Combining exceptional Japanese craftsmanship with premium hardware and electronics, this model was built for serious players who wanted vintage Fender quality with modern performance features.
The eye-catching Blueberry Sunburst finish showcases a beautiful laminated silky wood (lacewood) top over an American basswood body, giving every guitar a unique grain pattern and a striking three-dimensional appearance. Gold hardware, a factory Floyd Rose Original tremolo, and premium DiMarzio electronics complete one of the most visually impressive Stratocasters Fender Japan ever produced.
Unlike most Fender Japan Stratocasters, which originally shipped with only a gig bag, this guitar includes a non-original hard-shell case. Not only is this a significant upgrade for storage and travel, but it also ensures your guitar will arrive much better protected during shipping than it would in a gig bag.

Electronics & Features
The Pro Feel Series represented Fender Japan's highest-performance instruments during the early 1990s, and the STR-120SD is among the most desirable examples from the lineup.
Factory-equipped with a premium DiMarzio HSS pickup configuration, this guitar delivers remarkable tonal flexibility. The bridge humbucker provides thick, articulate high-gain tones with excellent sustain, while the single-coils offer sparkling cleans, glassy rhythm sounds, and classic Strat-style chime. Whether you're playing rock, fusion, blues, pop, or metal, the STR-120SD covers an enormous tonal range.
The electronics are further enhanced by Fender's TBX (Treble Bass Expander) tone control, allowing for greater tonal shaping than a traditional passive tone circuit. Combined with the five-way selector switch, the guitar delivers everything from vintage-inspired cleans to aggressive modern lead tones.
Performance was clearly a priority when Fender designed the STR-120SD. The factory Original Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo system features a recessed rout that allows both upward and downward pitch bends while maintaining exceptional tuning stability, making it ideal for expressive vibrato techniques and dive bombs.
Visually, few Stratocasters are as striking as this one. The exotic laminated silky wood top beneath the Blueberry Sunburst finish creates remarkable depth and figuring that changes beautifully under different lighting. Paired with the gold hardware, it gives the guitar an unmistakably premium appearance that stands out from traditional Stratocaster models.
Tone & Feel
The STR-120SD feels every bit like a professional-grade instrument.
The comfortable maple neck and 9.5" radius fingerboard strike an ideal balance between vintage comfort and modern playability, making bends effortless while maintaining excellent chord feel.
The DiMarzio pickup configuration provides outstanding clarity and dynamic response across every switch position, while the Floyd Rose system offers smooth, precise operation without sacrificing tuning stability.
At 8 lbs 8 oz, the guitar has a reassuring, substantial feel while remaining well-balanced for extended rehearsals, recording sessions, and live performances.
