For Sale: 1985 Fender Japan ST62-55 ’62 Reissue Stratocaster – 3-Tone Sunburst MIJ w/ Tweed HSC
Up for sale is a 1985 Fender Japan ST62-55 ’62 Reissue Stratocaster in 3-Tone Sunburst, complete with a non-original tweed hard-shell case.
This is a great example from Fender Japan’s early “golden era” period, built during the highly regarded Fujigen years. Based on a 1962 Stratocaster, the ST62-55 has become a favorite among players who want vintage-inspired looks and feel with the consistently strong craftsmanship that early Fender Japan instruments are known for.
This one has clearly been played over the years, but it remains a very solid, very good-playing guitar with a lot of character.
Condition
This guitar is in very good condition overall, especially for its age. It shows many scratches and dings throughout, along with general cosmetic wear from years of use. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.
There are no cracks, breaks, or structural issues. The neck is straight, and the guitar plays well up and down the neck. The front tone pot has been replaced due to a past malfunction, but otherwise the guitar presents as a strong vintage player. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.

Tone & Feel
These early Fender Japan ST62 models are popular for good reason. They have a very comfortable vintage-style feel, and this one delivers the clear, lively Strat tones you would expect from a good ’62-style reissue. The 7.25" radius, rosewood board, and vintage-style frets give it a more traditional playing experience, while the three single-coils cover everything from clean, articulate tones to more driven classic Strat sounds.
