For Sale: 2008 Gibson Explorer Shred-X Ebony w/ OHSC

Up for sale is a 2008 Gibson Explorer Shred-X in Ebony, complete with its original hard-shell case.

This is a very cool and harder-to-find limited Gibson model from June 2008’s Guitar of the Month run. Gibson produced only 1,000 of these, and they stand apart from a standard Explorer thanks to their more aggressive feature set, including dual EMG 85 active pickups, a Kahler tremolo, locking Grover tuners, and black chrome hardware. If you are looking for an Explorer with a more modern, high-performance setup, this is a great one.

Condition

This guitar is in very good condition and has been well cared for. I would rate it a solid 8.5/10. It shows only light scratches and a few dings, but nothing major. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.

There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The neck is straight, the frets are in great shape, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck with no issues. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.

The original hard-shell case works great as well. There is a little wear to the case handle, but nothing that affects functionality.

The Explorer Shred-X takes the classic Gibson Explorer platform and pushes it in a more modern direction. The EMG 85 pickups deliver a powerful, focused tone with plenty of output, while the Kahler tremolo and locking tuners make it a more versatile and performance-oriented instrument than a standard Explorer. It still has the big feel and visual presence of an Explorer, just with a more aggressive feature set.
