Up for sale is a 2010 Rickenbacker 4003 Bass in the highly desirable Midnight Blue finish, complete with its original Rickenbacker hard-shell case.

Midnight Blue is one of Rickenbacker’s rarer and more sought-after finishes, and it looks especially striking on the 4003 platform. Combined with the classic neck-through construction, original Rickenbacker pickups, and vintage-style push/pull tone circuit, this bass delivers the unmistakable Ric look, feel, and sound players and collectors love.

This is a very clean and well-cared-for example that plays fantastic.

Condition

Excellent – 9/10

This bass shows only minor cosmetic wear, including:

• A few small dings
• Minor handling wear
• A factory finish blemish on the back of the headstock where the paint under the clear coat appears slightly thicker

Please note: We carefully inspected the area under black light and can confirm with complete confidence that this is NOT a headstock repair. It is simply a factory finish irregularity under the clear coat.

There are no cracks, breaks, repairs, or structural issues. The neck is straight, the original frets are in excellent condition with no visible wear, and the bass has been professionally set up. It plays cleanly up and down the neck with no buzzing or dead spots.

The original hard-shell case is included. It does show some cosmetic wear from use but remains fully functional and protects the bass properly.

Electronics & Features

One of the standout features of this bass is the push/pull vintage tone circuit, which allows players to engage the classic vintage Ric capacitor for the thinner, brighter bridge pickup tone associated with earlier vintage Rickenbackers.

The Midnight Blue finish is also much less common than standard Fireglo or Jetglo examples and gives the bass a very distinctive look depending on lighting conditions.

The inclusion of the original bridge pickup cover is another nice touch, as many of these were removed and lost over the years.

Tone & Feel

This bass delivers the punchy, aggressive, articulate tone that made the Rickenbacker 4003 famous. It has tight lows, growling mids, and excellent clarity that works beautifully for rock, prog, indie, punk, alternative, and classic rock styles.

The neck feels comfortable and fast without being overly thin, and the neck-through construction provides excellent sustain and resonance.

At 9 lbs 6 oz, it has the solid feel players expect from a great Rickenbacker bass.
