For Sale: 1985 Gibson Les Paul Custom – Silverburst | Tim Shaw Pickups | Original Chainsaw Case

Up for sale is a 1985 Gibson Les Paul Custom in a rare Silverburst finish, complete with its original Gibson chainsaw hard case. This guitar is a killer player's example with tons of vibe, tone, and tasteful restoration work that preserves its classic character.

Condition

This Les Paul is in very good condition, with the following cosmetic and functional notes:

• Light scratches, small dings, and finish checking throughout

• Previously had a Kahler tremolo and locking nut installed—extremely common in the 1980s

• The Kahler has been professionally removed, the routing filled and refinished

  • The work is very clean and barely visible—you'll only notice under direct lighting

• The original-style nut has been reinstalled

• The four holes from the former locking nut on the headstock were filled and refinished

• At one point, different tuners were installed—original tuners are now back on

  • Extra tuner holes were also professionally filled and refinished

• Pots have been replaced with modern CTS 500K pots

• Pickups are Tim Shaw humbuckers

  • Bridge pickup is original (dated ‘84)

  • Neck pickup is also a Tim Shaw (dated ‘82) but may not be original to this guitar
