For Sale: 2021 Ernie Ball Music Man Tim Commerford Signature StingRay Full-Scale Passive – Natural | #35 of 50 | OHSC

Up for sale is an exceptionally rare 2021 Ernie Ball Music Man Tim Commerford Signature StingRay Full-Scale Passive in Natural, complete with its original Music Man polyfoam hard-shell case.

This is #35 of only 50 produced in the Full-Scale Passive configuration from the original limited Tim Commerford Signature release. Of the different versions offered, this is the particularly desirable 34" full-scale passive model—the configuration associated with Tim Commerford’s own StingRay setup.

Developed with the legendary bassist of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, this StingRay combines an ash body, roasted maple neck, ebony fingerboard, passive electronics, stainless steel frets, adjustable bridge mutes, and Tim's distinctive finger ramp/pickup cover.

A Note About the Year

We are listing this bass as a 2021 model because it is #35 of the original 50-piece Full-Scale Passive run released as part of the 2021 Tim Commerford Signature collection.

When we verified serial number B058900 directly with Ernie Ball Music Man, however, they confirmed that this particular bass officially left the factory on January 19, 2022.

We want to make that distinction completely transparent for collectors. Although its factory completion/shipping date falls in early 2022, this bass belongs to the original limited 2021 edition and is therefore being listed as a 2021.

Tim Commerford Full-Scale Passive Model

The Full-Scale Passive model is a distinctive take on the StingRay formula and reflects Tim Commerford’s straightforward, aggressive approach to bass tone.

Rather than relying on the traditional active StingRay preamp, this version uses a passive neodymium humbucker with a 3-way rotary selector, along with a push/push volume control that provides a gain boost.

The custom height-adjustable finger ramp and pickup cover is another defining feature, providing a contoured thumb rest and giving the bass an unmistakable appearance.

The black chrome Music Man bridge also incorporates adjustable mute pads, a classic Music Man feature that provides additional control over attack and sustain.

Limited Edition #35 of 50

With only 50 examples produced in this configuration, the Full-Scale Passive Tim Commerford StingRay was limited from the outset.

This example is individually numbered #35 of 50, making it an especially interesting piece for Music Man collectors, Tim Commerford fans, and players looking for the full-scale passive version of his signature StingRay.
