For Sale: 2014 Fender Japan MIJ TL62B ’62 Reissue Telecaster Custom – Ocean Turquoise Metallic | Double-Bound | Tweed HSC
Up for sale is a 2014 Fender Japan MIJ TL62B ’62 Reissue Telecaster Custom in stunning Ocean Turquoise Metallic, complete with a non-original tweed hard-shell case.
The TL62B is one of Fender Japan’s most desirable vintage-style Telecaster models, recreating the elegant look of the early-’60s double-bound Telecaster Custom. With its alder body, rosewood fingerboard, vintage 7.25" radius, and traditional Telecaster electronics, it delivers the unmistakable feel and sound of a vintage-style Tele.
What really sets this example apart is the Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish. Combined with the contrasting double body binding and rosewood fingerboard, it gives the guitar an upscale appearance that stands out dramatically from the more commonly encountered finishes.

Double-Bound ’62 Telecaster Custom Styling
The defining feature of the TL62B is its beautiful double-bound body.
Inspired by Fender’s early-’60s Telecaster Custom, contrasting binding runs around both the front and back edges of the alder body, giving the otherwise straightforward Telecaster design a noticeably more refined appearance.
Paired with the Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish and dark rosewood fingerboard, the binding really pops and gives this particular guitar a fantastic vintage-meets-custom aesthetic.
It’s a combination you simply don’t see every day.
Tone & Feel
This TL62B delivers exactly what you want from a traditional Telecaster.
The original Fender Japan single-coils provide the familiar combination of tight lows, punchy mids, crisp highs, and excellent note definition.
The bridge pickup has the bite and snap that make a Telecaster so effective for everything from country and rock to blues and punk, while the neck pickup provides a warmer, rounder voice for clean rhythm work and smoother lead tones.
The rosewood fingerboard adds a slightly warmer feel to the traditional Tele formula, while the 7.25" radius and vintage-style frets provide an authentically old-school Fender playing experience.
The neck measures .83" at the 1st fret and .91" at the 12th fret, giving it a comfortable ’60s C profile that gradually fills out as you move up the neck.
At 7 lbs 12 oz, the guitar feels substantial without being overly heavy and balances nicely whether sitting or standing.
Most importantly, it plays and sounds fantastic.
Non-Original Tweed Hard-Shell Case
This guitar includes a non-original tweed hard-shell case.
Many Fender Japan instruments from this era were originally supplied with a gig bag rather than a hard case, making the included tweed case a worthwhile upgrade for both storage and transportation.
More importantly, the hard-shell case provides substantially better protection during shipping than a gig bag, allowing us to pack the guitar securely for its trip to its next owner.
