For Sale: 2006 Gibson Custom Shop 1960's J-160E – Vintage Sunburst w/ OHSC
Up for sale is a 2006 Gibson Custom Shop 1960's J-160E in Vintage Sunburst, complete with its original hard-shell case.
This is a very cool Custom Shop version of one of Gibson’s most iconic acoustic-electric models. The J-160E has long been appreciated for its unusual blend of true acoustic character and electric-style response, and this one is a particularly clean example. With its round-shoulder dreadnought body, P-90 pickup mounted at the end of the fingerboard, and classic Vintage Sunburst finish, it delivers a great mix of warmth, punch, and unmistakable Gibson personality.
Condition
This guitar is in excellent condition and I would rate it a solid 9/10. It shows only light surface scratches, some small dings from normal use, and some finish checking. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.
There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The frets are in excellent condition with no visible wear, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck with low action and no buzzing or dead spots. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.
The original Gibson hard-shell case is included.

Electronics & Features
One of the defining features of the J-160E is its unusual combination of true acoustic construction and a neck-mounted P-90 pickup. That design gives it a voice that sits somewhere between a traditional flattop and a hollow electric, which is exactly why these guitars have remained so popular for decades.
This Custom Shop version captures that formula really well, offering the familiar look and feel of a classic Gibson acoustic while also giving you a much more direct and distinctive amplified tone than most standard acoustic-electrics.
Tone & Feel
This guitar has a warm, dry acoustic voice with a slightly compressed, rootsy character that works beautifully for singer-songwriter, folk, rock, and vintage-style rhythm playing. Plugged in, the P-90 adds a gritty, direct quality that makes the J-160E stand apart from more conventional acoustic-electrics.
At just 4 lbs 12 oz, it is lightweight and comfortable in hand, and the neck has an easy, familiar Gibson feel that makes it a pleasure to play.
