For Sale: 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 Turquoise w/ OHSC & Paperwork | Rare Color | All Original
Up for sale is a 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 in the exceptionally rare Turquoise finish, complete with its original Rickenbacker hard-shell case and original paperwork.
Turquoise is one of the most desirable and hardest-to-find custom colors Rickenbacker has ever produced. Offered for only a short period, it has become one of the most collectible finishes among modern Rickenbacker enthusiasts. The vibrant gloss Turquoise finish perfectly complements the classic 4003 design, giving this bass an unmistakable look while retaining the legendary tone and feel that have made Rickenbackers famous for decades.
This is a completely original example that has clearly been well cared for and includes the original paperwork—a nice bonus for collectors.
Condition
Very Good – 8.5/10
- Light scratches throughout
- Some small dings from normal use
- Minor clear coat bubbling around the lower side of the bridge
The finish bubbling is cosmetic only and is a fairly common occurrence on Rickenbacker basses of this era. It does not affect playability or structural integrity.
Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.
The bass is 100% original with no cracks, breaks, repairs, or structural issues.
The neck is straight, the original frets are in excellent condition with minimal wear, and the bass has been professionally set up by our in-house luthier. It plays cleanly up and down the neck with no buzzing or dead spots.

Electronics & Features
The 4003 remains one of the most recognizable basses ever built thanks to its neck-through maple construction, unmistakable styling, and signature Rickenbacker sound.
The dual Hi-Gain pickups deliver the aggressive attack, piano-like clarity, and growling midrange that have made the 4003 a favorite among rock, progressive, alternative, and classic players for decades.
The Ric-O-Sound stereo output is another hallmark feature, allowing each pickup to be sent independently to separate amplifiers or effects chains for enormous tonal flexibility.
Of course, what truly sets this bass apart is its beautiful Turquoise finish. Rarely seen on the used market, it immediately stands out from the more common Fireglo, Jetglo, and Mapleglo finishes and has become one of the most collectible modern Rickenbacker colors.
Tone & Feel
This bass has the unmistakable Rickenbacker voice—tight lows, articulate mids, brilliant highs, and the famous "Rick growl" that cuts effortlessly through a mix.
The neck-through maple construction provides exceptional sustain and note definition, while the rosewood fingerboard adds warmth and balance to the overall response.
The neck has a comfortable medium profile that feels substantial without being bulky, making it equally enjoyable for fingerstyle or pick playing.
At 9 lbs 8 oz, it has the solid, substantial feel players expect from a classic 4003 while remaining well balanced on a strap.
