Up for sale is a 1999 Fender MIJ Japan MG-69 Mustang ’69 Reissue in Competition Lake Placid Blue, complete with a non-original tweed hard-shell case.
This is a very cool late-’90s Fender Japan reissue with all the style and character that makes vintage-inspired Mustangs so appealing. Finished in Competition Lake Placid Blue with the matching competition stripe look, this model captures the unmistakable vibe of the original late-’60s Mustangs while offering the consistently strong craftsmanship Fender Japan is known for. Condition
This guitar is in very good condition and I would rate it a solid 7.5/10. It shows scratches and dings throughout, along with wear on the back of the guitar from normal use, and some finish checking at the neck joint. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.
There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The neck is straight, the frets are in very good condition, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.
The non-original tweed hard-shell case is included.

Electronics & Features
One of the signature features of the Mustang is its unique switching system, which allows each pickup to be turned on or off independently while also offering out-of-phase tones. That gives this model a wider range of sounds than many players expect, from bright, punchy rhythm tones to thinner, more cutting textures that sit well in a mix.
The MG-69 is also especially desirable for its classic Competition finish, short-scale feel, and unmistakable offset styling. Fender Japan did a great job with these reissues, and they continue to be popular with players who want something vintage-inspired but a little different from the usual Strat or Tele.
Tone & Feel
This guitar has the snappy, lively response Mustangs are known for, with a slightly tighter and more immediate feel thanks to the 24" scale. The vintage-style single-coils deliver clear, punchy tones with plenty of character, and the switching system adds some very usable tonal variety.
The neck feels comfortable and easy in the hand, and the short scale makes bends, chords, and lead work feel effortless. At 7 lbs 6 oz, it has a nicely balanced feel without being too heavy.
