For sale is a 1997 Ernie Ball Music Man Axis EX with a stunning Quilt Top. An early example of the Axis produced in the years following the conclusion of Music Man's endorsement deal with Eddie Van Halen, the Axis EX models were assembled in Japan using USA-made components, including DiMarzio humbuckers and a genuine Floyd Rose tremolo. These guitars are nearly identical to their USA-assembled counterparts, with the main difference being the position of the pickup selector switch at the cutaway and the headstock logo.

The guitar features a basswood body capped with a deeply figured quilted maple top, and a select birdseye maple neck with a maple fretboard. The custom DiMarzio humbuckers, specifically wound for the Axis and not available elsewhere, are mounted directly to the body for optimal resonance. They deliver plenty of articulate cut and sweet sustain, with more growl and attitude from the bridge pickup and a thick, round tone from the neck pickup.

This guitar comes with a gig bag. It has been played but is in very good condition and perfect working order. There are some scratches, dings throughout, and a crack in the metal neck plate. The crack is stable, and the neck plate is held securely in place by five screws. Overall, I would rate the condition a solid 8 out of 10. Everything on the guitar is original. There are no cracks, repairs, or issues with the guitar. The neck is straight, and the original frets are in excellent condition with no wear. There is no buzzing or dead spots.
