For sale is a 1988 Fender Custom Shop 40th Anniversary Telecaster in Translucent Red with the original case and certificate of authenticity. This guitar has been played but is in good condition and in perfect working order. There are some scratches, dings, and tarnish to the gold hardware. Overall, I would rate the condition, a solid 7.5 out of 10. Everything on the guitar is original. There are no cracks, repairs, or issues. The neck is straight with no issues and plays great. The original frets do show some wear, but there is no buzzing or dead spots. The necks plays and feels great. The original case works great.
This is the very first run of guitars ever produced by the Fender Custom Shop and is highly collectible. All the original members have gone on to become “Master Builders” including Michael Stevens and John Page. These are the height of quality and nearly impossible to find. One of the Telecaster collectors holy grail. The pickup cavity is signed by all the Master Builders.
