For sale is a 1966 Fender Precision P Bass in Natural, accompanied by a non-original hard-shell case. Although the case shows some signs of wear, it still provides adequate protection. This bass guitar, part of my personal collection, has been refinished in natural, a choice I find particularly appealing on Fender basses.
While this bass has been played extensively, it remains in good condition and operates flawlessly. The natural finish reveals numerous scratches, dings, and finish checking throughout, adding character to its appearance. The plastic pick-guard has a crack near the input jack. However, the most striking feature is the heavily worn back of the neck, offering a uniquely comfortable playing experience.
Overall, I would rate the condition a solid 7.5 out of 10. Except for the natural refinish, frets, nut, input jack, knobs, thumb rest, and possibly the pots, everything on this bass guitar is original, including the exceptional-sounding pickups. Please note that this bass does not include the original ash tray covers.
There are no cracks, repairs, or structural issues with the guitar, and the neck is straight with no concerns. The non-original frets are in excellent condition, providing smooth playability without any buzzing or dead spots. I recently set up the bass, ensuring it plays incredibly well. Additionally, it's worth noting that a shim has been added under the neck, allowing for exceptionally low action. However, this shim can be easily removed if desired, providing flexibility in adjusting the setup to personal preferences.
Detailed photos capturing the wear on the guitar have been provided for transparency. The bass in the listing is the exact one you'll receive, not just stock photos. Thank you for considering this unique piece. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
