For Sale: 2015 Gibson Custom Shop Early 60s SJ-200 – Trans Blue w/ OHSC

Up for sale is a 2015 Gibson Custom Shop Early 60s SJ-200 in Trans Blue, complete with its original hard-shell case.

This is a very cool and highly limited Gibson acoustic from the Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana, featuring a rare Trans Blue nitrocellulose finish over figured maple back and sides. These are not guitars you see often. With its Sitka spruce top, flame maple back and sides, rosewood fingerboard, mustache bridge, and LR Baggs VTC electronics, it offers the classic SJ-200 look and feel with a much more unusual finish than the standard examples.

Please note that I do not have the certificate of authenticity for this guitar.

Condition

This guitar is in very good condition overall and I would rate it a 7.5/10. It shows scratches and dings throughout, along with a crack on the back side of the guitar. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.

The guitar has been heavily discounted to account for this. Aside from the cosmetic and structural wear noted above, it remains a very cool and usable example of a rare Custom Shop SJ-200.

The original hard-shell case is included.

Tone & Feel

The SJ-200 is one of Gibson’s most recognizable acoustic models, known for its big, open sound and strong projection. This one has the classic Super Jumbo response, with plenty of low-end presence, clear highs, and a broad, full voice. The flame maple back and sides help keep the sound articulate, while the LR Baggs VTC system makes it a strong option for plugged-in use as well.

At just 5 lbs 4 oz, it is also a very comfortable guitar for its size.
