Dave Mustaine Flying V EXP

The Flying V EXP was developed around Dave Mustaine’s preferences, combining the aggressive silhouette of the Flying V with several specifications that distinguish it from a traditional Gibson V.

The extended 25.5" scale, 24-fret ebony fingerboard, and SlimTaper neck create a distinctly different platform from Gibson’s more traditional 24.75"-scale designs, while the neck volute adds another signature detail.

At only 6 lbs 10 oz, this example is also impressively lightweight for a full-size solidbody guitar.

Seymour Duncan Thrash Factor Pickups

At the heart of the Flying V EXP is a pair of Seymour Duncan Thrash Factor humbuckers, Dave Mustaine’s signature pickup set.

Designed around the powerful, articulate response associated with Mustaine’s rhythm and lead work, they are a natural match for the Flying V EXP’s performance-focused design.

Independent volume controls, a master tone, and a traditional three-way toggle provide a straightforward control layout.

Silver Metallic & Black Chrome

The Silver Metallic nitrocellulose finish is paired with black chrome hardware for a sharp, aggressive contrast.

The Explorer-style headstock, ebony fingerboard, and mother-of-pearl “teeth” inlays complete the signature aesthetic without needing excessive ornamentation.

Original Gibson Case & Paperwork

This example includes its original Gibson hard-shell case and paperwork, making for a particularly complete package.

The hard-shell case provides the protection and support especially desirable for the distinctive Flying V body shape and extended headstock design, while the accompanying paperwork is a welcome addition for anyone looking for a well-preserved example of this Dave Mustaine signature model.
