Up for sale is a 1993 Fender Made in Japan ST62 '62 Stratocaster KK-14 Walnut Special Order, complete with a non-original tweed hard-shell case.

This is an exceptionally rare "Order Made" Fender Japan model built at the legendary Fujigen factory during what many players consider Fender Japan's golden era. Unlike standard production ST62 models, these special-order guitars were custom built for the Japanese domestic market with upgraded appointments and unique specifications requested by dealers or individual customers.

Finished in a beautiful Walnut finish with gold hardware, this guitar has a distinctive upscale appearance that sets it apart from standard '62 reissues. It also features a set of Fender Gold Lace Sensor pickups, giving it a smooth, quiet, and highly articulate voice unlike a traditional Stratocaster.

Electronics & Features

One of the most interesting aspects of this guitar is its pickup configuration. It is equipped with Fender Gold Lace Sensor pickups, but the middle pickup functions as a dummy pickup and is not wired into the circuit.

Because this is an Order Made Fender Japan instrument, it's impossible to say with complete certainty whether this configuration left the factory this way. Fender Japan's special-order program often produced guitars with non-catalog specifications, and custom pickup layouts were not uncommon. As a result, this may very well be original to the guitar, although we cannot guarantee that.

The Gold Lace Sensor pickups provide a quieter playing experience than traditional vintage Strat pickups while retaining excellent clarity, warmth, and note definition.

Combined with the premium gold hardware and rare Walnut finish, this is a truly unique Fender Japan Stratocaster.

Tone & Feel

This Strat has a rich, articulate voice with exceptional clarity and sustain. The Lace Sensors produce smooth highs, balanced mids, and a tight low end while dramatically reducing the 60-cycle hum associated with traditional single-coils.

The comfortable neck feels substantial without being bulky, and the 9.5" radius offers a slightly more modern playing experience while still retaining vintage-inspired character.

At 8 lbs 4 oz, the guitar feels balanced and solid, making it equally comfortable for studio sessions or live performance.
