1964 Fender Jazz Bass Sherwood Green - is currently on backorder. You may still purchase now though and we'll ship as soon as more become available.

For sale is the iconic 1964 Fender Jazz Bass in a captivating Sherwood Green finish, complete with its original hard-shell case. This bass is from my personal collection and stands out as one of the best-sounding vintage Jazz Basses I’ve ever owned. After comparing it with several others, this bass consistently delivers a fuller, richer tone. Although I've cherished it, I’ve been playing 5-strings more frequently, and it’s time for this 4-string beauty to find a new home where it will be played and appreciated.

The bass has been professionally refinished in nitro and relic'd by MJT Aged Finishes, and the result is stunning. Originally purchased from Ray at the Vintage Bass Vault, this bass even gained some notoriety on Instagram due to its striking appearance. The relic job includes light scratches, dings, wear, and weather checking, all adding to its vintage vibe. Notably, the headstock retains its original finish, showcasing its natural wear, while the back of the neck has a bit of wear as well, providing that smooth, vintage Fender feel. I would confidently rate the overall condition at a solid 8.5 out of 10.

Aside from the refinishing, the bass has undergone a few other modifications: the nut has been replaced, new frets have been installed, one tone knob, the input jack, and two pots have been replaced. These updates have significantly improved the playability, allowing the bass to set up perfectly and play amazingly. Importantly, the pickups and most other components are original. The neck, dated to 1963, features early Fender attributes, including clay dots and a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. The neck is straight, and the frets are in excellent condition, ensuring a smooth playing experience with no buzzing or dead spots. A recent setup has also been performed to guarantee the bass is ready to deliver its best performance.

To ensure full transparency, I’ve provided detailed photos of the actual bass guitar, allowing you to inspect its condition thoroughly. This 1964 Fender Jazz Bass in Sherwood Green is a rare find and an excellent choice for vintage Fender enthusiasts who value both sound quality and the unique charm that comes with age.
