For Sale: 2001 Gibson Custom Shop Left-Handed ’59 Historic Reissue Les Paul R9K Killer Quilt | Jimmy Page Spec Pickups | Includes Non-Original Case
Up for sale is a 2001 Gibson Custom Shop Left-Handed ’59 Historic Reissue Les Paul R9K Killer Quilt, accompanied by a non-original hard-shell case. This guitar has been played and has several modifications, but it remains in good condition and operates flawlessly. Please note that there is no certificate of authenticity or paperwork for this guitar.
The Killer Quilt series started in 1999 and was produced for only a few years, making these instruments rare, especially in the left-handed version. The 2001 R9’s are considered highly collectible, as they were limited to only 500 units in the US and 1,000 worldwide due to “parts constraints.” This left-handed model is even rarer and is stamped R9K in the electronics cavity.
While this guitar has some modifications, including pickups and hardware upgrades, it remains a beautiful and rare instrument. If it were all original, I would price it closer to $7,000, but given the modifications and non-original case, I am offering a heavily discounted price.
Key Features and Modifications:
-
Quilted Maple Top: A stunning, highly figured Killer Quilt that makes this guitar truly stand out.
-

The bridge pickup is rated at 8.18 ohms and the neck pickup at 8.25 ohms, similar to the Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page "Number One" pickups.
