For sale is a rare 1990 Gibson Custom Shop Edition ’76 Reissue Explorer in Natural, complete with its original Gibson hard-shell case. This limited-run Custom Shop Edition model features the “Custom Shop” decal on the back of the headstock—a hallmark of Gibson’s small-batch, special-order guitars beginning in the early 1980s.

This guitar has been played and shows some cosmetic signs of use, but it remains in excellent working condition. There are light scratches, dings, and finish checking throughout, along with minor clear coat chipping near the tuning keys and light buckle wear on the back. These marks add vintage character without affecting performance. The plastic pickup bobbins have some minor cracking, typical for this era, but they are stable and fully functional.

The tuners have been upgraded to Gotohs—an excellent and reliable modern choice. Extra holes from the original tuners are visible on the back of the headstock. Some of the wiring and a tone capacitor have been replaced with vintage-style cloth wiring, giving the tone sweep a smoother, more musical response. Aside from these thoughtful upgrades, the guitar remains original, with no cracks, repairs, or structural concerns.

The neck is straight with a slim 60s profile and is extremely comfortable to play. The original frets are in great condition with minimal wear, offering smooth action with no buzzing or dead spots. A recent professional setup ensures that the guitar plays as good as it looks.
