For Sale: 2001 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom ’68 Historic Reissue Black Beauty | COA + Lifton-Style Case

Up for sale is a 2001 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom '68 Historic Reissue Black Beauty. This iconic Les Paul features all the right vintage vibes, complete with a newer Gibson Lifton-style reissue hard-shell case and the original Custom Shop certificate of authenticity. While the rest of the paperwork is missing, this guitar delivers the timeless tone and aesthetic that make the ’68 Custom Reissues so desirable.

This guitar is in very good condition overall and appears to have been intentionally aged—or has naturally developed the kind of honest wear that adds tremendous character. There are light scratches, dings, and general playwear throughout, giving it the perfect broken-in look. Most notably, the hardware has been upgraded to aged gold components, further enhancing the vintage appeal.

Upgrades and Modifications:

• Aged German-made Faber bridge

• Aged gold tailpiece and pickup covers

• Waffle-back tuners (more accurate to vintage spec than stock)

• 1960s-style reflector knobs (more period-correct than the stock top hats)

Aside from these cosmetic and functional enhancements, the pickups (Burstbucker 2 & 3) and all electronics are original. The original parts for the replaced hardware are not included.

Playability & Setup:
This Black Beauty plays as great as it looks. It’s been professionally set up here at Guitar Chimp for smooth action, clean fretting, and optimal tone. The neck is straight, and the original frets have plenty of life left with only minor signs of wear. There are no cracks, repairs, or structural issues.
