Up for sale is a 2022 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom Single Pickup Black Beauty in Ebony, complete with its original hard-shell case and certificate of authenticity.

This is an extremely rare and very cool Custom Shop Les Paul Custom with a highly unusual single-pickup layout. With no toggle switch and only one volume and one tone control, this model has a stripped-down, aggressive look that sets it apart immediately from a standard Black Beauty. You simply do not see these very often. It combines the upscale feel and classic elegance of a Les Paul Custom with a much more focused, uncommon spec that makes it especially appealing to collectors and players who want something different.

Condition

This guitar is in very good condition and I would rate it a solid 8.5/10. It shows light scratches and some dings from normal use. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.

There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The neck is straight, the frets are in excellent condition, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.

The original hard-shell case and certificate of authenticity are both included.

With no neck pickup, no toggle switch, and only a master volume and tone, this guitar has a very clean and purposeful design that gives it a unique look and feel compared to a standard Les Paul Custom. It is a rare variation that you almost never come across, especially as a Custom Shop Black Beauty.

The lone Gibson 498T in the bridge position gives the guitar a strong, direct voice with plenty of output and bite, while the solid mahogany body, maple top, and ebony fingerboard keep it firmly rooted in classic Les Paul Custom territory.

Tone & Feel

This guitar has a focused, powerful, and immediate response. The single 498T gives it plenty of punch, cut, and midrange authority, making it a great fit for rock, hard rock, and heavier styles, while still retaining the sustain and fullness you would expect from a good Les Paul Custom.

The Rounded C neck feels comfortable and substantial without being too large, and the ebony board adds a slightly quicker, more articulate attack under the fingers. At 9 lbs 2 oz, it has a solid, balanced feel that suits the model very well.
