Up for sale is a 2009 Paul Reed Smith PRS SC-J Thinline in Charcoal Burst, complete with its original hard-shell case and eagle hang tag.

This is an extremely rare PRS and one you almost never see come up for sale. The SC-J Thinline was a limited edition model, with only 300 made, designed as PRS’s take on a refined modern jazz box. It combines a hollow single-cut body with premium woods, elegant appointments, and a longer 25.5" scale length that gives it a little more snap and articulation than many traditional archtops. Finished in Charcoal Burst, this is a very classy and uncommon PRS with serious collector appeal.

Condition

This guitar is in very good condition and I would rate it a solid 9.5/10. It shows only light scratches, a small amount of tarnish to the gold hardware, and one small ding from very light use. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.

There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The neck is straight, the frets are in excellent condition, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.

The original hard-shell case and original eagle hang tag are both included.

It was designed as a more sophisticated hollowbody instrument, with elegant styling, premium materials, and a layout aimed at players who want warmth, clarity, and resonance without giving up definition.

The PRS Archtop humbuckers are a great match for the design. They offer a smooth, open, articulate voice that suits jazz, blues, pop, fusion, and cleaner roots-oriented playing extremely well. Combined with the Macassar ebony fingerboard and 25.5" scale length, this model has a little more snap and immediacy than many traditional jazz boxes.

Tone & Feel

This guitar has a warm, airy, and refined sound with excellent note separation and a very lively acoustic response. The hollow construction gives it openness and resonance, while the Archtop pickups keep the amplified tone clear, balanced, and musical.
