For Sale: 2006 Gibson Custom Shop CF-100E – Sunburst w/ OHSC

Up for sale is a 2006 Gibson Custom Shop CF-100E in Sunburst, complete with its original hard-shell case.

This is a very cool and increasingly hard-to-find Gibson Custom Shop acoustic-electric that blends vintage-inspired design with excellent versatility. The CF-100E is one of Gibson’s most distinctive acoustic models, with its LG-sized body, Florentine cutaway, and neck-mounted P-90 pickup giving it a voice and feel that stands apart from a more traditional flat-top. This example is even more flexible thanks to the added LR Baggs I-Beam pickup, allowing you to use either pickup individually or run both at the same time with two separate cables.

Condition

This guitar is in very good condition and I would rate it a solid 7.5/10. It shows scratches, some dings, wear on the back, finish wear throughout, and finish checking throughout from normal use and age. The checking and wear give the guitar a great broken-in vintage vibe. Please review all photos carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.

There are no cracks, breaks, or structural repairs. The frets show no wear, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.

The original Gibson hard-shell case is included and is in very good condition.

Electronics & Features

One of the standout features of the CF-100E is the combination of acoustic construction and a neck-mounted Gibson P-90, which gives the guitar a very distinctive voice somewhere between a traditional flattop and an electric hollowbody. This one also has an added LR Baggs I-Beam pickup installed, with the input mounted at the butt of the guitar like a typical acoustic pickup setup.

That means you can choose between the original P-90 and the LR Baggs system, or run both at the same time using two separate cables. That is a very cool and useful setup for players who want a wider range of live or studio tones.

Tone & Feel

This guitar has a warm, woody, broken-in acoustic voice with a lot of character. The smaller body size keeps it comfortable and responsive, while the cutaway makes upper fret access much easier than on a standard flattop.

Plugged in, the original P-90 gives it a raw, direct, unmistakably Gibson voice, while the LR Baggs I-Beam adds a more traditional acoustic amplified sound.
